Background | AllCells provides cryopreserved versions of all of our fresh human and animal cell products. Some of our products are almost always in the cryopreserved format because the tissue and cell processing and delivery schedules are random and cannot be pre-arranged. The advantage of cryopreserved cells is that they can be stored long-term in cryo-storage, usually in vapor phase liquid nitrogen at about -180 to -190°C, and short-term, about 2 weeks, in -70 to -80°C. The cells can then be used at any time when the researcher is ready. The disadvantage is that cryopreserved cells have experienced the freezing stress and their viability and recovery can be greatly compromised if careful thawing and handling protocols are not observed. |
