Background

Rat bone marrow stromal cells are the connective cells of the bone marrow which provide not only structural support but also the microenvironment niche for the maintenance of hematopoietic stem cells, and the differentiation and development of mature blood cells.  They are enriched and isolated by selective culture and expansion from the bone marrow mononuclear cells of Sprague-Dawley rats.
